About KUAKAMA - MEXICAN GOURMET

Kua Kama, which means eating tastily in Totonac, is a young brand which came out of the philosophy, to work with local producers to promote heritage products that are from its origins Mexico and share it with the world.

After spending a considerable amount of time living in Europe, José Manuel Rodriguez Nieto, a native Mexican, and his German partner, Nadja Schumann moved back to Veracruz about 12 years ago. Veracruz was home for Jose or Pepe as he is fondly called. A shared interest in the scenic beauty and the history of this fertile region soon evolved into an interest in the local people and their way of life.

They decided to engage themselves in a locally sustainable project. This is when they discovered Vanilla, one of Veracruz’s most famous products. To their surprise they found that though Vanilla was first found in Veracruz, there was hardly any Vanilla left here.

Nadja and Pepe started working along with local producers to revive what is probably one of Mexico’s most famous product. In the last 10 years they established their company Vanilla-Trade as one of the key Mexican Vanilla exporters, supplying to discerning customers across the world.

Recently, Nadja and Pepe also started working with the finest local cacao producers. A meeting with a mexican sustainable cacao criollo project has led to the development of the Kua Kama – Mexican Gourmet – Cacao line.

Through Kua Kama, they promote two of Veracruz’s most prized & cultural authentic products: Cacao & Vanilla
